While data ethics and data governance are important considerations in any field, they are particularly crucial in global health. Public health policies that impact the well-being of entire populations depend upon data-driven, evidence-based decisions. What models of data governance facilitate ethical data sharing? How do we ensure privacy and confidentiality, while managing, accessing, and sharing data for the public good? In this research pillar, we examine ethical challenges across the entire data lifespan — from collection and storage to access, use and dissemination of research findings.
