Grace Gabber

Graduate Research Assistant

Grace is a Graduate Research Assistant at the Institute on Ethics & Policy for Innovation (IEPI). She holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Integrated Science and a Certificate for Applied Ethics and Policy from McMaster University. During her BSc, Grace conducted multiple research projects within the realm of global health. Namely, an independent research project on the ethical use of human challenge trials for malaria vaccine development, and her Honours thesis on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on pediatric immunization programs in LMICs and the ethical implications of the resulting gaps in vaccination coverage.

After completing an undergraduate research assistantship at IEPI in the summer of 2021, Grace was inspired to pursue graduate studies in philosophy with a focus on global health ethics. Her MA thesis, supervised by Dr. Emerson, will focus on ethical issues pertaining to emerging technologies that have implications for the health of humans and the environment. To complement this research, Grace will be completing the Water Without Borders graduate diploma run by the United Nations University, Institute for Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH) and McMaster University. Through her research, Grace aims to integrate her background in the sciences with her interest in real-world ethical dilemmas.
