Dr. Mercuri completed his PhD in Health Research Methods at McMaster University, and a PhD in History and Philosophy of Science and Technology at the University of Toronto. He has also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Medicine at Columbia University. Dr. Mercuri is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University, and an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation and Victoria College at the University of Toronto. Dr. Mercuri also holds an affiliation with the Department of Philosophy at the University of Johannesburg (in partnership with Durham University). In 2018, he was named Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Evaluation in Clinical Practice. His research interests are focused on medical epistemology, including what makes something evidence and how we use that for public policy and decision making, variations in medical practice, and issues around radiation exposure from diagnostic imaging.
