Belinda holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a Minor in Political Science from McMaster University. Throughout her undergraduate career, Belinda sought to combine her philosophical and political science background to engage in research projects that addressed pressing ethical challenges that arise in medical and legal systems within Canada and beyond. Her research centred around the exploration of methods for increasing cultural sensitivity in the Canadian medical and legal systems.
Prior to joining IEPI, Belinda completed a four-month placement where she researched the parameters for the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in society. Her brief research placement inspired her to continue her exploration of the ethical challenges that arise from the deployment of novel technologies through an MA in Philosophy. Belinda is currently completing an MA thesis that explores the underrepresentation of elderly populations in the development of AI for medical applications under the supervision of Professor Claudia Emerson.
